TWI Completes Setup of Advanced EHLA Technology for Geothermal
September 23, 2024This week, the COMPASS Consortium convened in Sheffield for its third general assembly, hosted by our partner TWI. We are delighted to announce that the COMPASS project has reached its midway point and is progressing excellently.
The meeting was a highly productive event. Participants had the opportunity to visit TWI’s advanced laboratories and observe the laser cladding solutions developed by TWI in collaboration with Hornet Laser Cladding. The agenda also included a field trip to the Steel Works processing plant, offering valuable insights into industrial applications and processes.
A notable highlight of the assembly was a presentation by Tom Olver from the United Downs Geothermal Project in Cornwall, the first geothermal power plant in the UK. This presentation sparked a stimulating discussion on potential synergies between the projects, offering new avenues for collaboration and innovation. Furthermore, a meeting with the COMPASS Advisory Board was held to review the project’s findings and explore possible future directions for the technologies developed within COMPASS.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Tomaso Maccio and his team for their exceptional hospitality. The assembly was a testament to the strong collaboration and commitment within the COMPASS Consortium, and we are eagerly looking forward to the next phases of our project.
