Reykjavik Energy Showcases Icelandic Geothermal Expertise at GeoSmart Project Meeting
Florence, Italy – Reykjavik Energy (OR) representatives Kolbrún Ragna Ragnarsdóttir and Gunnar Gunnarsson recently presented at the Horizon 2020 GeoSmart Project panel meeting in Florence, Italy. The session, organized by COSVIG, brought together key stakeholders from the Italian geothermal industry to discuss challenges related to managing supercritical geothermal resources.
During their presentation, Ragnarsdóttir and Gunnarsson highlighted Iceland’s experiences and best practices in addressing these challenges. They emphasized the significance of initiatives like GeoSmart in fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange. The session explored how GeoSmart technologies can contribute to overcoming obstacles in Italian geothermal resource management.
OR’s pitch also featured insights into ongoing projects in Iceland and introduced the COMPASS project. COMPASS aims to tackle common challenges identified in GeoSmart, such as materials studies and corrosion mitigation strategies in extreme geothermal environments.
